About Our Church We Are "Sharing the Joyful News of Jesus Christ's Love " The members of Mt. Moriah are committed to serving Christ and passionate about sharing the good news of God's love for all people. The ringing of the church bell calls us to worship on Sunday mornings. We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday. The Lord's Table is open to all baptized Christians who believe that the body and blood of Christ are present in the bread and wine.
Children are an important part of our congregation and they are always welcome in worship. We have a children's sermon each Sunday and Children's Church immediately following, during the sermon time. The children's church takes place in a safe, secure room with one of our adult teachers, who is equipped with a walkie talkie that communicates with our sound booth/security crew. We also have a youth group for school age kids, which is headed by our Youth Director, Paula Hasty.
Mt. Moriah is part of the Southern Conference of the Central/Southern Illinois Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) are connected to the faith of the church through the ages and around the world. Lutherans believe in the Triune God. We are part of God's unfolding plan. When we gather for worship, we connect with believers everywhere and of every time. When we study the Bible and pray, we are drawn more deeply into God's own saving story. When we serve others and address social issues that affect the common good, we live out our Christian faith. Lutherans are a diverse group of people convinced that the Holy Spirit is leading us toward unity in the household of God. |
